The rain was the main theme of the opening day of CrossFit Games 2017. Since the competition has always taken place in sunny California in the past, rain has met her for the last time in 2011. Most athletes, however, took the whole of the sport as a “test of everything” test. For many, the rain was a more pleasant alternative to the hot California sun. In any case, the water falling from the sky significantly affected the conditions in which it struggled the day before.
Crossfit Games 2017 – Day 1
The first what the competitors expected was the combination of running and swimming in a sequence of 1.5 mile (2414 m) running, 500 m swimming and again 1.5 miles running. The running area affected the wet weather at least, except for the wet soaked rain boots, the rain did not affect the running much, the worse it was with the swimming. The rainy weather markedly disturbed the surface of Lake Monon, which made the swimming much harder, and the water grass was not pleasant. With the whole line, Canadian Brent Fitkowski finished fastest in 28:45, but apparently he was pushing the fact that he did not want to be defeated by two women – Clair Toomey and Kristi Eramo, who in the end breathed on his back. The victory among women eventually fought Tia-Clair Toomey’s athletic past, who showed a beautiful finish and drew the finish just behind Fikowski at 28:46. Male favorite Matt Fraser entered first in the water but finished seventh.
At most the rain marked the cyclocross track, whose difficulty significantly increased. Grass slopes in the tightened bends, the slopes of the racers sloping, the soles of the pedals slipped, as the SPDs did not walk, and the terrain of the sand field grew heavy. Different approaches to how to deal with a cyclocross track were seen among the racers. Someone had a heavy transfer and ruled what was going on, others chose a lighter transfer with a higher cadence, which was a more reasonable choice for this situation. With the mountain bike and traps of the wet track, Kristine Holte, who had the whole course at 21:43, managed to cope with the race, the best male Ricky Garard scored 19:26.
The last Thursday task was the Amanda benchmark, but in an extended version. The contestants have given a series of 13-11-9-7-5 repetitions of muscle-up and snatch squat exercises, women weighing 95 pounds (43 kg), men weighing 135 lb (61 kg). Among women, Jamie Greene was the fastest man in 8:51, Dakota Rager was the fastest in the men’s field at 8:01.
After the first day, Mathew Fraser , who scored 7th, 2nd and 2th place on the first day of the day, made the most of the women’s first day Claire Toomey, who finished first, finished 8th on the lap and Amanda managed with the second best time.
Crossfit Games 2017 – Day 2
On Friday 4 August, during the second Games Day, competitors had to deal with four competitive tasks. It was a hurdle race that first explored the skill and shrewdness of athletes. He competed in three rounds. In the first round, eight teams were introduced, the second round of the two best athletes from each of them plus four other athletes with the fastest times who were not in the top 2. In the second round, four athletes were the winner of each of them plus one an athlete with the fastest time he did not win, went to the final. In the finals, a total of five racers started. The men were Patrik Vellner, Streat Hoerner, Cody Anderson, Noah Ohlsen and Jonne Koski, and Tennil Reed-Beuerlein, Anna Tobias, Bethany Branham, Annie Thorisdottir and Katrin Davidsdottir made the final round of the obstacle race. With each round, the contestants learned how to overcome the obstacles better and faster. They had the best of their technique, and the fastest time was Tennil Reed-Beuerlein among the women and Patrick Vellner among the men.
After the agility of the discipline, the net came – a snatch, one rebound with a maximum load. Here the nerves played, so it was again a very thrilling race. For a long time it seemed that Alessandra Pichelli, the best rider in this discipline, would have got the top 202 pounds (91.6 kg), but eventually, Kara Webb surpassed her by half a kilogram. The strongest snatch in the men’s individual competition showed Garret Fisher as he mastered the weight-loaded dumbbell at 138 pounds (138 pounds).
The third day’s task was a chipper that included 100 pull-ups, 80 GHD sit-ups, 60 one-legged squats, 40-cal row and 20 dumbbell push presses. The full load went the fastest at 10:45 am Kara Webb; the men were best suited to Matt Fraser, who completed the chipper in 10 minutes and 46 seconds.
The winners of the final day of the 40/30-cal assault bike a20-ft banger were Samantha Briggs and George Sanchez.
After two racing days, Ragnheiður Sara Sigmundsdottir is ranked second, Mathew Fraser is currently in the first place, despite the failed last day discipline (20th).
Crossfit Games 2017 Results
In the male category, the result is not so much a surprise. The title of Fittest Man, like last year, was won by Mathew Fraser, who performed excellent performances in practically all workplaces, where his placement was most often between the first and third place. An exception was Assault Banger’s workout, where he occupied up to the 20th position – it is to be seen that even the most fitting man of the planet can still surprise something. In any case, his point lead was so strong that he managed to win more than 200 points in spite of this unsuccessful workout.
Men’s Crossfit Games 2017 Results
- Place: Mat Fraser (1,132 points)

In the female category, the favorite was not entirely clear. Great hope was given to last year’s champion Katrin Tanji Davidsdottir, but after the first day, it was clear that this year’s title is unlikely. But the athlete, who had her first premiere at CrossFit Games in 2015, took the second place in 2016, and this year she got her dream title – Tiu-Clair Toomey, who is Fittest Woman 2017!
Women’s CrossFit Games Results in 2017:

Teens girls 14-15
Probably for the first time in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, the category of teen girls aged 14-15 years was closely monitored. It was in this category that Nina Ladvenic, a 14-year-old athlete from Slovakia, who was the first in Slovakia to qualify for CrossFit Games! Qualifying was an incredible success that many athletes only seem to be.
But it was clear that Nina’s ambitions are much higher than qualifying. After a slight hesitation in the first work, where she occupied the penultimate position, she showed what her qualities were and was carefully preparing for these races. In the second work, she took the 4th place, Quatrain’s workout even won and for the rest of the workouts she moved to the seventh position. The result is a beautiful 6th place! Congratulations!
The team category had great hopes for winning Riche Fronninga, CrossFit Mayhem, but this year was not enough for the Wasatch CrossFit team.

- Place: Wasatch CrossFit (966 points)
- Place: CrossFit Mayhem (918 points)
- Place: CrossFit Fort Vancouver (786 points)
